GPS establishes the reference. Aion distributes it in the language each device understands.

Absolute time

GPS and 1PPS provide UTC traceability and long-term stability for the system clock and network timing services.

Network synchronization

PTP provides precision synchronization for compatible media and facility devices; NTP serves general network clients as a Stratum 1 source.

Production timecode

LTC, MIDI-TC, IRIG-A/B, Art-Net, TSL-UMD and Aion’s UDP distribution connect specialized production systems to the same reference.

Aion exposes the live NTP and PTP state used to verify GPS lock, stratum, satellite reception, offset, frequency correction and service availability. The calibration utility can collect offset measurements over a defined interval and apply the resulting correction to the timing configuration.

Independent outputs

Convert frame rates and formats at the destination.

A single incoming source can feed multiple outputs with their own format, frame rate and offset requirements. This is especially useful in mixed broadcast, lighting, audio and legacy-instrument environments.

Source offset + destination offset + latency adjustment Aion can apply a workflow offset to the incoming source, then add an independent offset and frame- or millisecond-based latency adjustment to each destination. Negative values can advance a destination when downstream equipment needs timecode early.

Signal verification

Diagnostics are part of the timing instrument.

The integrated scope presents both analog waveform behavior and decoded digital timing so installers can validate LTC and IRIG paths without treating Aion as a black box.

Aion Enterprise extends the timing lineage into a dedicated facility architecture. GPS disciplines the PHC; linuxptp distributes PTP over dual 10GbE timing interfaces; the media plane and all eight software timecode instances remain coherent with that same reference.
