IEW Solutions founder Greg Meisel brings more than 45 years of professional experience in audiovisual production, broadcast technology, software engineering, and integrated system design.

Since beginning his career in 1979, Greg has worked extensively in corporate production, live entertainment, broadcast environments, and complex multi-screen presentations. His field experience includes audio engineering, video engineering, technical direction, media playback, signal management, projection, and large-format presentation systems. He has also held professional certifications for Christie, Barco, and Analog Way presentation technologies.

What distinguishes Greg’s career is the continuity between his production work and his engineering work. Even after founding ifelseWare, Inc. in 2015, he continued working directly in live production environments. That ongoing field experience provides an immediate understanding of the pressures operators face, the limitations of existing tools, and the consequences when critical systems are difficult to configure, unreliable, or poorly suited to the actual workflow.

For Greg, production work is not separate from product development. It is a continuous source of research, validation, and practical insight. The systems he designs are informed by real shows, real operators, real equipment, and real operational constraints. He does not develop products from a theoretical distance; he builds them from the perspective of someone who has spent decades depending on production technology under deadline.

As President and Software Architect of ifelseWare, Greg has personally directed nearly every stage of the company’s product development. His work spans system architecture, full-stack software development, real-time media and control systems, embedded computing, firmware, electronics, PCB design, network integration, user-interface design, deployment, testing, and long-term product support. This unusually broad technical range allows him to approach a project as a complete operational system rather than as a collection of isolated components.

That experience is reflected throughout the IEW Solutions product portfolio. Ascension combines professional media playback, compositing, timeline automation, cueboards, remote-node control, and show-control integration within a unified production platform. Aion brings precision timing, synchronization, timecode conversion, PTP, NTP, GPS, and facility-wide distribution into a purpose-built system. Legion II, Legion EC, and AV-Key further demonstrate Greg’s long-standing focus on practical tools for working production professionals.

Throughout his career, Greg has repeatedly identified gaps between what commercial technology offers and what operators actually need. His work has included early digital photography workflow systems, live-theater automation, multimedia playback platforms, networked control tools, broadcast timing systems, and custom software developed for specialized operational requirements.

His engineering philosophy is straightforward: understand the work first, then build the technology around it.

That approach comes from knowing what it is like to be the person responsible for the system when the audience is seated, the production is live, and failure is not an acceptable option.
